Pope Francis has asked all dioceses across the world to come together to pray, listen, discuss, and chart a course into the future for the global Catholic Church. This Synod on Synodality is a chance for the Roman Catholic Church to unite – not just the bishops, archbishops, cardinals, and the pope, but each and every Catholic, whether in the pews or not.
The Archdiocese of Denver, responding to that call, has begun its process of doing just that by praying and reflecting in Advent on the kerygma, the story of Jesus Christ: who he is, what he’s done, and what that means for us. Following Advent, the Archdiocese invited pastors from northern Colorado to select two representatives from their parishes, who would participate in diocesan-wide discussions and discernment.
These representatives, along with their pastors, have been asked to come together with their parish communities to consider the movements of the Holy Spirit for their parishes, for the diocese, for the US Catholic Church, and for the Roman Catholic Church as a whole. They will take the insights from these parish gatherings back to the archdiocesan synodal gatherings, which will then be brought together and synthesized into a report that will be forwarded to the Vatican ahead of their 2023 Synod of Bishops on Synodality.
All parishioners of Notre Dame Parish and those other Catholics in our community who may not worship with us presently are invited to this parish gathering. We want to hear from you! Join us in Sacred Heart Hall on Saturday, February 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a period of prayer, discernment, and discussion. Please be sure to RSVP via the online registration form, or to Micky Bachmann in the Parish Office by phone at 303-935-3900 or email.
